CEDARVILLE, Ohio - University of Rio Grande junior Amarissa Kerns established a new school record en route to an eighth-place finish in the women's division of the All Ohio InterCollegiate Cross Country Classic, which took place Friday at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course.
The Lancaster, Ohio native completed the 6k course in a time of 22:55, eclipsing the previous Rio record at that distance of 22:57 set by Lucy Williams at the All-Ohio in 2017.
Kerns was just one of nine runners to complete the course in under 23 minutes.
As a team, Rio Grande finished 15th in the 25-team event with 395 points.
Host Cedarville University had three of the top six finishers and took the team title with 37 points, while Tiffin University (109 pts.) and Ohio Wesleyan University (134 pts.) rounded out the top three.
Individually, Wilmington College's Faith Duncan took top honors after crossing the finish line in a time of 21:17.
