WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - Georgia Gwinnett College scored three times in the game's first 12-1/2 minutes and cruised to a 6-0 win over the University of Rio Grande, Saturday afternoon, in a neutral site non-conference women's soccer meeting played at the University of the Cumberlands.
Kendra Davis had a trio of goals, Natalie McGuire had two of her own and Aurora Miglio scored once while assisted on two other scores for the Grizzlies, who improved to 10-5-1 with the win.
Rio Grande dropped to 8-5-2 with the loss.
The RedStorm managed only two shots in the contest - none in the second half and none on frame.
Gwinnett had 20 shots overall, including 11 which were on goal, while also enjoying a 4-1 edge in corner kick opportunities.
Davis scored the first part of her hat trick off of an assist by Miglio exactly four minutes into the match, while Miglio assisted on McGuire's first score just over six minutes later.
Miglio scored her goal a little more than two minutes after that, thanks to an assist from Pernilla Westergren, to give the Grizz their 3-0 halftime lead.
McGuire scored again off of a touch by Grace Clark just 1:45 into the second half, while Davis finished off her hat trick with her eighth and ninth goals of the season - both of which were unassisted - with 33:05 and 23:46 remaining in the contest.
Matilda Johansson got the clean sheet win in goal for Georgia Gwinnett.
Senior Alba Vilades Marin (Barcelona, Spain) recorded five stops in a losing cause for the RedStorm.
Rio Grande is scheduled to return to action on Saturday at Indiana University East.
