Tigers slip past RedStorm women

     GEORGETOWN, Ky. - In its loss at Mount Vernon Nazarene on Saturday night, the University of Rio Grande saw the host Cougars snap a scoreless deadlock in the waning seconds of the contest.
     On Wednesday night, in another non-conference road tilt, it was a goal in the opening moments of the second half by Georgetown College which sunk the RedStorm.
     Bekah Clark's goal off an assist by Kendyl Rumple just 71 seconds into the second half lifted the host Tigers to a 1-0 victory at Toyota Stadium.
     Rio Grande, which lost for the third time in its last four outings, dropped to 3-4 on the season. All four losses have been shutouts.
     With the win, Georgetown remained unbeaten at 3-0-2.
     The Tigers finished with a 17-12 advantage in overall shots, including a 13-8 edge in the second half.
     The RedStorm had a 3-1 cushion in corner kick chances and four of their 12 shots were on frame, including three in the second half.
     Daysia Thompson had four saves in goal for Georgetown.
     Senior Alba Vilades Marin (Barcelona, Spain) had six saves in the loss for Rio.
     The RedStorm were scheduled to return to action on Friday, at home, against Washington Adventist University, but the contest has since been cancelled.
     Rio's next scheduled contest now won't happen until Sept. 26 in its River States Conference opener at Indiana University Kokomo.
