RedStorm 9th at IUE Fall Invite

     RICHMOND, Ind. - The University of Rio Grande women's golf team posted a ninth place finish in the IU East Fall Invitational, which wrapped up its two-day run on Saturday at Highland Lake Golf Course.
     The RedStorm had a two-day total of 138-over par 714.
     Host Indiana University East won the 11-team event with a score of 45-over par 621, while Trine University was the runner-up at 627. St. Mary-of-the-Woods placed third at 638.
     Trine University's Rylee Smith took medalist honors with a 2-over par 146.
     Sophomore Maddi Meadows (Gallipolis, OH) provided Rio with its top individual finish, tying with two others for 26th place with a 36-hole total of 24-over par 168.
     Also representing the RedStorm were senior Molly Fitzwater (Gallipolis, OH), who placed 44th at 37-over 181; freshman Kimmi Aubrey (Wellston, OH), who tied for 47th place at 40-over par 184; freshman Emma Hammons (Gallipolis, OH), who tied for 50th at 42-over 186; freshman Katherine McGrath (Columbus, OH), who was 52nd after carding a 46-over par 190; senior Avery Minton (Gallipolis, OH), who was 60th at 225; and junior Natalie Shriner (Thornville, OH), who finished 62nd with a 235.
     Rio Grande returns to action on Sept. 9 at the Alice Lloyd Fall Invite in Prestonsburg, Ky.
