     DANIELS, W.Va. - The University of Rio Grande women's golf team wrapped up its 2023-24 campaign on Tuesday by finishing sixth in the River States Conference Championship at The Resort at Glade Springs.
     The RedStorm finished with a 54-hole total of 260-over par 1,124, which was 137 shots back of champion Indiana University East. The Red Wolves claimed their third straight league title by finishing at 123-over par 987.
     Midway University was the runner-up at 131-over 995 and St. Mary-of-the-Woods was third at 163-over par 1,027.
     Rio Grande was in fourth place after the opening round of the event, but slipped into sixth place after round two and stayed there following the final 18 holes.
     In addition to the team victory, IU East's Brooklynn Cromwell was named the RSC Golfer of the Year after earning the medalist honor with a three-day score of 78-78-76-232. Midway's Maryssa Phillips was second at 81-82-74-237 and earned RSC Women's Golf Newcomer of the Year honors.
     Cromwell was also All-RSC First Team for the second time in her career, while being named to the RSC Champions of Character Team and a member of the All-RSC Scholar-Athlete Team.
     IU East head coach Billy Mullin was named as the league's Coach of the Year.
     The All-RSC Teams and awards were also earned at the championship. There were a combined 16 players on the All-RSC First, Second and Third Teams. Also named was the RSC Women's Golf Champions of Character Team with one honoree from each school who best exhibits the NAIA character values as well as the RSC Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete Team for those with a 3.25 GPA or higher not in their first year their institution.
     Rio Grande's top individual finish came from graduate senior Victoria Raffle (Wrexham, Wales), who tied for 15th place at 44-over par 260. She earned a spot on the All-RSC Third Team for her efforts.
     Also representing the RedStorm was senior Bailey Meadows (Gallipolis, OH), who finished 21st with a 55-over par 271; freshman Maddi Meadows (Gallipolis, OH), who was 24th at 66-over 282; and sophomore Chelsea Daubenspeck (Bucyrus, OH), who was 40th with a two-round total of 79-over 223.
     Rio freshman Mia Basim (Athens, OH) competed as an individual and placed 34th at 109-over par 325.
     Junior Molly Fitzwater (Gallipolis, OH) was Rio's representative on the Champions of Character team, while Raffle, Daubenspeck, graduate senior Cristina Reynoso (San Luis Potosi, Mexico) and sophomore Natalie Shriner (Thornville, OH) all made the Scholar-Athlete team.
