Rio women finish 3rd at Spring Tiger Invite

     ST. ANNE, Ill. - Victoria Raffle and Maddi Meadows both posted Top 10 finishes individually to lead the University of Rio Grande women's golf team to a third place finish in the Spring Tiger Invite hosted by Olivet Nazarene University.
     The 36-hole event wrapped up on Saturday at the Kankakee Elks Country Club.
     Raffle, a graduate senior from Wrexham, Wales, who also doubles as an assistant coach, was part of a three-way tie for fifth after finishing at 27-over par 171, while Meadows - a freshman from Gallipolis, Ohio - took eighth place at 29-over 173.
     As a team, Rio Grande - which was also in third place after Friday's opening round - finished at 175-over par 751.
     Host Olivet Nazarene won the team title by finishing at 104-over par 680, while Grace College was second at 109-over 685. Seven teams took part in the tourney.
     Olivet Nazarene's Lizzie Howard captured medalist honors by carding a two-day total 21-over par 165.
     Also representing Rio Grande was senior Bailey Meadows (Gallipolis, OH), who placed 15th at 39-over par 183; freshman Mia Basim (Athens, OH), who was 34th at 81-over 225; and junior Avery Minton (Gallipolis, OH), who finished 35th at 88-over par 232.
     Rio Grande is scheduled to return to action April 8-9 at the Music City Invite in Nashville, Tenn.
