
Halstead leads Rio to 10th place at Lehigh Valley

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The University of Rio Grande women's bowling team finished 10th in the 12-team Lehigh Valley Collegiate Classic, which wrapped up its two-day run on Thursday at Jordan Lanes.
The event featured five rounds of team play on Wednesday and 20 baker games to close things out on Thursday.
The RedStorm totaled 7,969 pins.
The University of Pikeville won the team crown with 9,156 pins, easily outdistancing runner-up Lawrence Tech (Mich.) University's total of 8,637 pins. Cumberland (Tenn.) University was third with 8,523 pins.
Pikeville's Katarina Hagler and Kristina Catoe tied for the top spot individually, toppling 1,091 pins each over five games for a 218.2 average.
Rio Grande's top finish came from junior Hannah Halstead (Delaware, OH), who was 21st in the field of 83 bowlers with 940 pins over five rounds for a 188.0 average.
Also representing the RedStorm was senior Caity Moody (Xenia, OH), who was 24th with 924 pins in five games, including a team single-game high of 254 in round four; freshman Lina Fernandez (Mechanicsburg, PA), who placed 30th with 858 in five games; sophomore Payton Goodman (Cardington, OH), who was 32nd with 844 pins in five games; and sophomore Julianna Lemaster (Chillicothe, OH), who finished 37th with 770 pins over five rounds.
Rio Grande will remain in Allentown, Pa. and returns to action on Friday and Saturday in the Roto Grip Keystone Classic at the Haja Rose Bowl.
