     JEFFERSONTOWN, Ky. - The University of Rio Grande women's bowling team had a Top 10 finish in the team play portion of the NAIA Bowling Coaches Association Invitational, which finished its three-day run on Sunday at King Pin Lanes.
     The event featured 17 teams in five rounds of team play on Friday and 25 rounds of baket action on Saturday, with the top eight squads advancing to Sunday's match play bracket.
     Junior Hannah Halstead (Delaware, OH) led the RedStorm with a 13th place finish individually, taking down 969 pins over five games for a 216.2 average.
     As a team, Rio finished with 4,297 pins toppled for a ninth-place showing.
     Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) won the team play championship with 5,067 pins, while the University of Pikeville was second (4,849 pins) and William Penn (4,797 pins) was third.
     Individually, first place went to Lara Kurt from SCAD with 1,102 pins over five games for a 220.4 average.
     Others who represented Rio in the field of 127 bowlers was senior Caity Moody (Xenia, OH), who was 24th with 914 pins over five games; sophomore Julie Lemaster (Chillicothe, OH), who was 44th with 859 pins over five games and the owner of the team's single-game high with a 263 in round three; freshman Lina Fernandez (Mechanicsburg, OH), who was 56th with 816 pins in five rounds; and sophomore Payton Goodman (Cardington, OH), who was 67th with 739 pins over five rounds.
     Rio Grande finished 12th out of 16 teams on Saturday with 3,887 pins in baker play.
     Pikeville won the title with 4,666 pins, while SCAD was second with 4,642 pins and William Penn (4,551) finished third.
