
RedStorm women to host Grenadiers in post-season opener

RIO GRANDE, Ohio - The University of Rio Grande will entertain Indiana University Southeast in the quarterfinal round of the River States Conference Women's Basketball Championship on Wednesday, at 7 p.m., at the Newt Oliver Arena.
Conference officials release the bracket on Saturday night after the conclusion of regular season play earlier in the day.
The RedStorm finished 23-5 overall and 13-3 in the RSC and are the No. 2 seed from the East Division.
IU Southeast recorded a 14-12 mark overall and was 8-8 in league play and is the West Division No. 3 seed.
The top four teams in each of the league's two divisions qualify for the post-season tourney, with the higher seeded team serving as the host for each contest.
The quarterfinal round is set for Wednesday, with winners advancing to the semifinals on Saturday.
The title game is scheduled for Tuesday, March 4.
Other first-round matchups include East Division No. 4 Indiana University East (12-16, 8-8 RSC) at West Division No. 1 Oakland City University (19-8, 14-2 RSC), East Division No. 3 Midway (16-12, 10-6 RSC) at West No. 2 Brescia University (17-9, 9-7 RSC) and West No. 4 St. Mary-of-the-Woods College (15-13, 7-9 RSC) at East No. 1 Shawnee State University (24-4, 15-1 RSC).
The Shawnee-SMWC winner will face the Midway-Brescia winner in one semifinal contest, while the Rio-IUS winner will tangle with the IUE-Oakland City winner in the other.
