     MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - The University of Rio Grande swept the first River States Conference Softball Player of the Week awards of the season.
     League officials announced the award winners on Monday.
     Junior first baseman Gabby Adams was named the league's Player of the Week, while senior Madi Ogden garnered the Pitcher of the Week award.
     Adams had four multi-hit outings to begin the season, as Rio Grande started the season 4-0.
     The Grove City, Ohio native also had an extra-base hit in every game, including a grand slam home run in her first at bat of the season against Brewton-Parker (Ga.).
     Adams drove in three or more runs in three of the four games.
     Ogden was dominant in the circle in wins over Brewton-Parker and Spartanburg (SC) Methodist at the Cola Classic.
     The Williamsburg, Ohio product allowed just three hits and an unearned run, while walking four and striking out 25 in 13 innings of work.
