
RedStorm "B" team finishes 6th at OCU Invitational

CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio - The University of Rio Grande men's golf "B" team recorded a sixth-place showing at the Ohio Christian University Fall Invitational, which wrapped up its two-day run on Tuesday at the Pickaway Country Club.
The RedStorm carded a 46-over par total of 622 for the 36-hole event, including a final round 20-over par 308.
West Virginia University-Tech's "A" entry easily took the team crown, finishing at 11-under par 565. The Golden Bears also owned the top individual mark with Santiago Zambrano's 9-under par 135.
Indiana Tech University was a distant second at even-par 576, while WVU-Tech's "B" team was third at 15-over par 591.
Rio Grande's top individual outing belonged to freshman Eliseo Martinez (Malaga, Spain), who finished as part of a three-way tie for sixth place even-par 144. He was the only RedStorm golfer to finish in the top 20.
Also taking their swings for the RedStorm were freshman Teo Mansson (Orebro, Sweden), who was 27th in the 53-player field at 12-over 156; Alexander Wirenlind (Stockholm, Sweden), who was one of four players tied for 33rd place at 16-over par 160; senior Eli Adkins (Stout, OH), who was part of a three-way tie for 37th place at 20-over 164; and freshman Leo Attini (Sundsvall, Sweden), who tied for 40th place at 21-over 165.
Rio Grande's "B" team is slated to return to action next Monday at Shawnee State University's Roger Merb Invitational in McDermott, Ohio.
