     SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. - Rodrigo Portilla carded a 4-over par total of 148 to finish as part of a three-way tie for ninth place in the Heritage Hill Fall Collegiate hosted by Lawrence Tech (Mich.) University at the Heritage Hill Golf Club.
     The two-day event concluded on Saturday.
     Portilla, a freshman from Sevilla, Spain, recorded consecutive rounds of 2-over par 74 and finished 10 shots behind Jonathan Brewington of Campbellsville University.
     As a team, Rio Grande finished fifth in the eight-team field at 50-over par 626.
     Campbellsville also won the team title at 2-over par 578, with Lawrence Tech finishing second (588) and Kentucky State University (595) rounding out the top three.
     Also representing Rio Grande was junior Whit Byrd (Pomeroy, OH), who finished 19th at 11-over par 155; freshman Nicolas Gonzalez (Medellin, Columbia), who tied for 26th place at 16-over par 160; freshman Kameron Maple (Oak Hill, OH), who tied for 29th place in the field of 52 competitors at 19-over par 163; freshman Matys Rigal (Talence, France), who was 46th at 30-over par 174; and freshman Jacob Smeeks (Belpre, OH), who tied for 48th place at 32-over par 176.
     Rio Grande will conclude its fall schedule as part of the Alice Lloyd Eagle Invitational, Oct. 31-Nov. 1, in Cohutta, Ga.
