
Catanese leads Rio men at Bowlero Southern

MARIETTA, Ga. - The University of Rio Grande men's bowling team took 20th place in the 21-team Bowlero Southern Classic, which wrapped up on Sunday at Bowlero Marietta.
The RedStorm toppled 8,704 pins over six rounds of team play and 16 rounds of baker action.
Savannah College of Art and Design captured the team championship with 10,671 pins. The University of Pikeville (10,345) and Webber International University (10,299) completed the top three.
Webber International's Brandon Bohn won the individual title with 1,413 pins over six games.
The top individual outing for Rio Grande belonged to sophomore Dominic Catanese (North Royalton, OH), who finished 29th among the 212 competitors with 1,206 pins over six games for a 201 average. His 267 in the opening game served as the team's single-game high.
Others rolling for the RedStorm were sophomore Gage Hamm (Rushsylvania, OH), who was 56th with 1,124 pins over six games; junior Shawn Woodyard (Jackson, OH), who placed 78th with 1,041 pins in six rounds; sophomore Jacob Lemaster (Chillicothe, OH), who was 81st with 1,019 pins over six games; freshman Chase McMillen (Lewiston, OH), who was 144th with 579 pins over four rounds; and freshman Justin Lowery (Chillicothe, OH), who was 187th with 312 pins in two rounds.
Rio Grande is slated to return to action at the Ohio Bowling Conference Tournament No. 3 on Nov. 16 in Columbus, Ohio.
