     BENTON, Ill. - Talk about making a splash.
     The University of Rio Grande archery team - in its inaugural tournament - earned a total of 17 podium finishes and recorded 191 overall team points en route to winning the 2024 USA Archery Collegiate 3D Regionals North Championship.
     The seven-team tourney concluded its two-day run on Sunday.
     A trio of RedStorm shooters took first place in their individual class, with senior John Sazarin (Onalaska, WI) finishing first in men's Barebow, junior Alyssa Nelson (Draper, UT) grabbing the top spot in women's Olympic Recurve and sophomore Danielle Pollard (West Pittston, PA) taking the top spot in women's Fixed Pins.
     Other top individual performances included junior Zoe Woods (McHenry, IL) and junior Braydin White (Zanesville, OH), who finished second in the women's Compound and men's Fixed Pins, respectively, as well as freshman Matteja Metcalf (Piedmont, SC) and freshman Colton Green (Bloomfield, OH), who were third in the women's Compound and men's Compound, respectively.
     Other Redstorm archers with a Top 8 qualification round finish in their respective classes and earning points towards the overall team standing included junior Emalee Wooldridge (Vernal, UT), who was fourth in women's Compound; sophomore Braden Reed (Grayson, KY), who was fourth in men's Compound; freshman Madison Hurst (Lucasville, OH), who placed fourth in women's Fixed Pins; freshman Scott Fisher (Mauk, GA), who finished fourth in the men's Barebow; sophomore Morrighain Nyer (Pottsville, PA), who was fifth in women's Barebow; senior Matthew Russell (Loganville, GA), who was sixth in men's Compound; freshman Ashlynn Peters (Hundred, WV), who was sixth in women's Barebow; freshman Dylan Brumfield (Gallipolis, OH), who placed sixth in men's Barebow; freshman Kaitlyn Hastings (Grand Bay, AL), who finished sixth in women's Olympic Recurve; freshman Raeann Schagel (Reedsville, OH), who grabbed seventh place in women's Fixed Pins; freshman Nathan Bennett (St. Albans, WV), who was seventh in men's Fixed Pins; senior Alicia Aviles (Tamarac, FL), who placed eighth in women's Fixed Pins; and freshman Madison Abel (Buckhannon, WV), who was eighth in women's Olympic Recurve.
     In the team round on day two of the tourney, Rio had four more sets of archers post first-place showings.
     Woods, Wooldridge and Metcalf turned the trick in the women's Compound, while Green and Woods won the mixed Compound and the duo of White and Pollard took the mixed Fixed Pins.
     Also picking up a win in Mixed Equipment was the trio of Green, White and Nelson.
     Second-place finishes in the team round were recorded by Reed, Russell and Green in men's Compound; Hurst, Schagel and Pollard in women's Fixed Pins; Abel, Hastings and Nelson in women's Olympic Recurve; Sarazin, Fisher and Brumfield in men's Barebow; and the trio of Nyer, Peters and freshman Alexandria Dingus (Flatwoods, KY) in women's Barebow.
     Sarazin and Nyer also took third in the mixed Barebow, while the trio of freshman Ephraim Tonn-Bourg (Boerne, TX), Bennett and White finished fourth in men's Fixed Pins.
     By virtue of its regional win, the RedStorm moves on to USA Archery's Collegiate 3D Nationals, Oct. 3-5, in Foley, Ala.
