RedStorm women place 7th at OBC No. 2

     COLUMBUS, Ohio - Caity Moody posted a top 10 finish individually and the University of Rio Grande women's bowling team had a seventh place showing in the Ohio Bowling Conference No. 2 Tournament, which took place Saturday at the Columbus Square Bowling Palace.
     Moody, a senior from Xenia, Ohio, took down 777 pins in four rounds of action for an average of 194.25 and a 10th place finish. Her opening game score of 211 also served as the team's individual single-game high.
     As a team, the RedStorm knocked down 4,994 pins over the course of eight rounds of baker play and four rounds of team play.
     Wright State University headed the 16-team field with 5,417 pins, while St. Vincent College was second with 5,285 pins and Robert Morris University rounded out the top three with 5,264 pins.
     Jada Baker of Wright State won the individual crown with 887 pins over four games for a 221.75 average.
     Also representing Rio Grande was freshman Lina Fernandez (Mechanicsburg, PA), who was 20th with 744 pins in four games; sophomore Julie Lemaster (Chillicothe, OH), who placed 36th after taking down 701 pins in four rounds; sophomore Jaelyn Hughes (Indian Lake, OH), who was 38th with 695 pins in four games; and sophomore Payton Goodman (Cardington, OH), who placed 41st after knocking down 689 pins over four rounds.
     Rio Grande was also one of the seven schools with an entry in the tourney's junior varsity bracket and finished fifth with 3,943 pins.
     St. Vincent won the JV team title with 4,423 pins, with Shawnee State finishing as the runner-up with 4,363 pins and Ohio State University (4,308) rounding out the top three.
     Ohio State's Alexis Patton and Bridget Cake of Muskingum University had the top individual scores for junior varsity participants, placing 32nd and 33rd overall with 705 pins in four rounds for a 176.25 average.
     Rio's top JV score belonged to junior Megan Foltz (South Point, OH), who was 70th among the 132 bowlers with 592 pins in four games for a 148 average.
     Also representing the RedStorm JV squad was freshman Melanie Liming (Georgetown, OH), who was 79th with 532 pins in four games; senior Malerie Stanley (Gallipolis, OH), who placed 94th with 464 pins in three games; freshman Addison Jones (Winchester, OH), who was 106th with 382 pins over three rounds; senior Kayla Sheets (Columbus, OH), who was 108th with 380 pins in three games; and freshman Kendall Harrod (Chillicothe, OH), who was 112th with 335 pins in three games.
     Foltz had a 178 in game one was Rio Grande's single-game showing.
     Rio Grande is scheduled to return to action Nov. 1 and 2 at the Brunswick Southern in Marietta, Ga.
