Rio's Brisker, Ogden recognized by RSC

     MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - Caitlyn Brisker and Madison Ogden from the University of Rio Grande are the River States Conference Softball and Pitcher of the Week.
     The award is for all games through Feb. 18.
     Brisker, a senior shortstop from Oak Hill, Ohio, hit .550 going 11-for-20 in five games to open the season. That effort led the RedStorm to the championship of the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Ga., with Brisker earning all-tournament honors.
     Five of her hits went for extra-bases with three doubles, a triple and a homer. She scored 12 runs, got on base at .591 and slugged .950 as Rio Grande went 5-0 on the weekend.
     Brisker had a pair of four-hit games, going 4-for-5 and hitting for the cycle versus Kentucky Christian. She was 4-for-5 with a double and three runs in a win over Truett McConnell (Ga.).
     Ogden, a junior from Williamsburg, Ohio, went 2-0 in two starts. In 12.0 innings, the Morehead State University transfer allowed just one run and seven hits, struck out 16 and compiled a 0.58 earned run average.
     The right-hander went all seven innings in a 3-1 win over Mobile (Ala.) with one run and six strikeouts. She pitched five innings in a 12-0 shutout of Johnson (Tenn.) striking out 10 and giving up one hit.
